Several Chelsea players who haven’t been a mainstay in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans now have an opportunity to shine during the international break.
This season, the Argentine has made very few forced lineup adjustments, and it appears that the Blues are finally starting to click as a result.
Following a rocky start to the season, they have won two straight league games and three straight across all competitions.
Noni Madueke has had trouble getting playing time, and despite not being injured, he occasionally isn’t named to the squad.
After a video of him partying surfaced, it was revealed that Pochettino had fired him as a result of his ire over his outing.
Madueke getting his opportunity
Along with club teammate Cole Palmer and Chelsea loanee Bashir Humphreys, the 21-year-old played last night for the England U21 team.
When the former Manchester City player left the field injured, Madueke made sure to seize the moment.
He scored twice, one of which was an absolutely amazing goal that he scored by cutting in from the right wing.
While Chelsea’s opportunities have been limited thus far for a variety of reasons, his performance last night might have finally been sufficient to give him his chance.
Palmer’s potential injury may present an opening on the right side of the attack, and Madueke is finally shown this season that he is prepared for that chance.
