Dominik Szoboszlai, a midfielder for Liverpool, was excellent against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, and Neil Mellor has praised his ball-running skills.
With Szoboszlai providing two assists in a 3-0 victory over Steve Cooper’s team over the weekend, the former Anfield striker expressed his admiration for the 23-year-old’s play to LFCTV GO.
Mellor was amazed by Szoboszlai’s strength on the ball, as well as his typical praise for his midfield play. The Hungarian proved to be a very athletic player.
Critics are beginning to notice how excellent Szoboszlai’s whole game has become these days, as the former Bundesliga star has been a revelation for Liverpool.
“I really like him because he is such a strong runner with the ball and he sets us on the attack,” Mellor remarked. “On that day, Darwin Nunez beat him for sprints forward.”
“He is influencing games really well; he just reads the game really well, intercepts really well, and fits what Liverpool is all about.”
For Liverpool, Szoboszlai’s agility has been essential.
Even though Szoboszlai’s skill with dead balls was well known before he joined Anfield, few people anticipated the midfield player to be as agile as he is.
Szoboszlai is a manager’s dream player; his fitness has already made all the difference for Liverpool this season, but if Jurgen Klopp isn’t careful, injuries may be imminent.
Although few Liverpool supporters would have imagined the Hungarian to be as good as he is on the ball when sprinting at speed, Szoboszlai’s physicality on the field has been something else.
