Oscar Bobb, a midfielder for Manchester City, has received plaudits from Pep Guardiola for his development there.
After defeating Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford last weekend, the Citizens are back in action this afternoon as Bournemouth visits the Etihad Stadium for their most recent Premier League match.
The City boss has given his thoughts on a certain player in his team who might be hoping to make an uncommon appearance this time around as he looks ahead to the match.
Bobb is praised by Guardiola.
Guardiola discussed Bobb during his most recent press conference, which was held in advance of today’s game.
“We’re really happy, and I see him every day in training,” he stated. No question. His performance at the end, in the minutes I give him, will determine his own destiny. However, from my vantage point, I’ve been quite happy with what he’s done since day one.
The 20-year-old first joined City’s development programme in 2019 and has since made 114 youth appearances for the team, contributing 33 assists and 31 goals in the process.
Bobb has made five senior appearances for Guardiola’s team this season; in the most recent, he played the entire second half of City’s 2-1 loss at Wolves.
Guardiola has expressed his admiration for the Norwegian and his contributions to the team since his arrival, despite the fact that the young player hasn’t been playing regularly for the team this season.
Beyond today’s league game against Bournemouth, City will play Young Boys at the Etihad on Tuesday in the Champions League. It will be interesting to see if the Spaniard chooses to play Bobb a significant amount of minutes in both games to demonstrate his abilities once more.
Going forward, the young player has the potential to become a major contributor to the team and enhance the club’s standing as a prospect for promoting players from their youth ranks to the first team if he can maintain his impressive play and impress his manager.
