Brighton is working very hard, according to Roberto De Zerbi, to maintain their ambitions of winning both domestically and in Europe.
Despite being put to the test, the Seagulls team is holding up admirably thus far. They are currently second in their Europa League group after their victory against Ajax on Thursday.
They are currently sixth in the Premier League going into their home game against Sheffield United at the Amex Stadium on Sunday. De Zerbi is aware that his staff and players will need to put in a lot of work.
Quotes from him appeared on the team’s X account. “We are fighting, we are second in our Europa League group and seventh in the Premier League.”
“We’re playing three games a week, but we lost three key players in the summer. Though it’s a difficult season, we are persevering.
“You should concentrate on the next game if you’re not used to playing in the Europa League. In the Premier League, we must prevail.
“We need to improve our analysis because we haven’t been able to keep a clean sheet very often this season, even though clean sheets are an important aspect of football.”
Brighton has only kept a clean sheet when playing both home and away against Ajax. They have let up the most goals of any team in the top 10 with 20 goals given up in the Premier League thus far.
When Brighton plays the Blades on Sunday, they will be missing midfielder James Milner and defenders Pervis Estupinan and Lewis Dunk.
In Thursday’s Europa League away triumph against Ajax, Ecuador international Estupinan made his comeback from a muscular injury that had kept him out since September 30. However, he only played for 12 minutes before being substituted once more.
With a potential groyne injury, Dunk left the game in Amsterdam at halftime, and veteran Milner left the game in the eighth.
De Zerbi remarked, “We can’t change anything, but the injuries are a terrible situation.”
“The game on Sunday is one of the most important of the season, so we must concentrate on it.”
