Following the disclosure of their plans to purchase the player, Manchester United is about to get a much sought-after superstar.
Despite their struggles with form and injury this season, the Red Devils are currently the most successful team in the Premier League after defeating Luton Town at home last Saturday. Even so, new investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe is happy to help Erik ten Hag bolster his position.
The billionaire Ratcliffe of INEOS is expected to take over the football aspect of the business and has determined that defensive reinforcement is desperately needed by Manchester United.
According to Correio da Manha in Portugal, United is eager to arrange an incentive-filled contract for Sporting center-back Goncalo Inacio, and the 20-time league champions have leaked the payment plan for the player.
After years of high spending, United failed to complete deals in the summer due to budgetary constraints. They signed Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund for large sums of money, but in order to adhere to Financial Fair Play, they had to sign Sofyan Amrabat on a loan.
United hopes to pay a base cost of €45 million (£39.3 million) for Inacio in this agreement, with bonuses and add-ons totaling €15 million (£13.1 million). To raise the money for the relocation, Raphael Varane might be sold.
Ratcliffe’s Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo has also been connected to United.
Transfermarkt values Inacio at thirty million euros.
