The 2023 ATP Finals between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner is what Patrick McEnroe, the brother of John McEnroe, believes will happen.
Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and Jannik Sinner—the top four seeds in the competition—have progressed to the Turin semifinals. In the Green Group, the Serb improved his record to 2-1 with his victory over Hubert Hurkacz, 7-6(1), 4-6, 6-1.
But he had to wait to find out the result of the match between Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune, expecting the Italian to prevail and guarantee his place in the final four. Sinner, on the other hand, finished the round robin flawlessly. He finished the Green Group with a 3-0 record after defeating Rune 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
Conversely, Carlos Alcaraz defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-4, 6-4 to round off his Red Group campaign at the top. The 24-time Grand Slam champion, Alcaraz, will take on Sinner in the semifinals, while Daniil Medvedev will play Sinner.
Patrick McEnroe took to social media after viewing the semifinal roster and made a prediction that the tournament’s winner, World No. 1, Novak Djokovic, and the home crowd favourite, Jannik Sinner, would face off in Turin.
“It’s quite a final 4 tomorrow @atptour final…. Clearly the best 4 players in 2023. It’s @janniksin vs @DaniilMedwed And @DjokerNole vs @carlosalcaraz. I’ve got Novak and Sinner to the final. You?” McEnroe posted on X (formerly Twitter).
