Barcelona’s Continued Pursuit of Nigerian Midfield Star Unveiled
Prior to the January transfer window, Barcelona is weighing their choices, and it seems like they might be persuaded to enter the free agent pool for the third consecutive year. Barcelona is once more searching for less expensive options in England, although in the Championship, following the acquisitions of Ilkay Gundogan, Franck Kessie, and Andreas Christensen.
After initial rumours in September suggested that he was on their shortlist, Sport reports that Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is still being watched. Ndidi has played just over half of Leicester City’s minutes this season, who are currently leading the Championship. However, a few seasons back, when he was at his best in the Premier League, he was apparently being tracked.
The Blaugrana are believed to be in rivalry with Sevilla and Juventus as well. Before the upcoming season, Los Nervionenses want to reduce their payroll once more, and signing Ndidi could help them close other deals.
Ndidi would suit the description of Deco, who was reportedly searching for a midfielder who could cover a lot of ground and screen the defence rather than drive the pace with the ball earlier on Friday. Ndidi, on the other hand, would be far more in keeping with their current economy than the three alternatives that were mentioned, which would probably require a big transfer budget.
