Marcus Rashford has been informed by Erik ten Hag that he must make his way back into the Manchester United team.
After receiving criticism for his performance in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle last weekend, Rashford was benched for Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Chelsea. The England attacker has struggled for consistency for the majority of the season.
Rashford only scored twice this season, one of those goals coming from a penalty in United’s 3-0 victory against Everton last month. Last season, he scored thirty goals to help United finish third and win the Carabao Cup.
On Wednesday night, United put on maybe their greatest performance of the year without Rashford. Rashford will also need to overcome Alejandro Garnacho’s exceptional play in his preferred position on the left.
Ten Hag remarked, “Rashford is an incredible, good player.” “He can’t play every game, and you can’t do it with eleven players.” He’s not the same person he was a year ago right now, but I have no doubt that he will improve.
He has the final say. The finest players who comprise the strongest team will always start for the team.
Since Rashford has been having trouble scoring goals, Scott McTominay has been United’s top scorer this season. With his two goals in Wednesday’s victory, McTominay now has six goals for the year.
The Scotland midfielder had given the impression that he may be leaving Old Trafford during the summer. Harry Maguire, an England defender, had a similar experience, but he managed to push his way back into Ten Hag’s side and was awarded Premier League player of the month on Friday.
When asked about the two, Ten Hag responded, “I think we have a squad, and in the squad there is internal competition.” A great season requires more players than just 11. In the end, every season will turn, and the best squad will emerge each time.
They have contributed to the squad and are excellent players, hence they are here. That’s what you anticipate from each player; achieving this requires devotion.
After Newcastle’s loss, Ten Hag was questioned about a struggling team. However, he had his own Premier League monthly award to present, as his team was only three points behind City in the neighborhood.
Even though we suffered some setbacks, particularly early in the season, we know where we are headed. We faced setbacks due to injuries and poor judgements, and occasionally you end up in situations like this,” he remarked.

“You can see the team’s character; we’re in a better position and shape. You need to be on point in every game because our team and individual performances are becoming better. This week’s results demonstrate how fiercely contested this league is. Everybody murders every other person.
Ten Hag has a lot to think about when choosing his lineup for United’s Saturday matchup against an in-form Bournemouth team at Old Trafford. On Tuesday, they play Bayern Munich in the Champions League, which they must win, and on Sunday, they go to Liverpool.
Ten Hag continued, “I think Bournemouth has very good form.” “They’re a really strong team with skillful players; once again, you have to give it your all.
Since everyone is killing everyone other, your squad needs to be 100% prepared for that match. It is our responsibility to arrive there.
“The next game is always the most important, especially in the Premier League where everyone is killing everyone,” said the manager, his coaches, and the rest of the staff. We always take everything into consideration. You require a potent group.
