Arsenal Makes a Splash with €20m Bid for Rising Star Marcos Leonardo
According to reports, Arsenal made a big move in the transfer window by making Marcos Leonardo, the young striker from Santos, an offer of €20 million plus bonuses.
This offer coincides with Santos’ drop to the second division, which appears to have created an opportunity for Leonardo to potentially go to Europe.
Although a number of elite European teams have been keeping an eye on 18-year-old Leonardo, Arsenal’s proposal puts them in a great position to sign him.
Leonardo has also drawn interest from Manchester United and Roma as well, although Arsenal has reportedly intensified their pursuit in retaliation. Should the teams reach an agreement on terms, Leonardo would be at Emirates Stadium on January 1st as part of the planned arrangement.
Leonardo has averaged a goal or an assist every 165 minutes this season, with 21 goals and four assists in 49 games.
His current estimated value is €25 million.
