The Ministry of Youth and Sports has won the approval of Parliament for the 2024 budget, including funding for the organisation of the 13th African Games. A total of 14 million euros has been approved for the budget, with a significant portion of it earmarked for the continental sporting event.
According to Mustapha Ussif, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Ghana is dedicated to organizing a successful African Games and has made large infrastructural expenditures to guarantee the event’s success.
Thirty sports are scheduled for the Games, eight of which will be Olympic qualifying events and the rest demonstration sports. The African Games are expected to draw around 5,000 participants, 3,000 officials, 2,000 volunteers, and an estimated one billion online and worldwide viewers, according to Minister Ussif, who highlighted the event’s significance.
