The Premier League match between Man City and Brentford was supposed to take place this weekend, but it has been postponed.
This is due to the fact that City, who won the Champions League the previous season, are presently participating in the FIFA Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia.
Before City’s Club World Cup debut, manager Pep Guardiola expressed concerns about the overabundance of fixtures, particularly in light of Fifa’s intentions to increase the competition to 32 teams starting in 2025.
Although Guardiola maintains that he is not opposed to the new event in theory and since City has already been assured a spot, he believes that something has to give in order to lessen the players’ strain.
“I have nothing against the new contests. “I oppose the annual lack of recuperation time,” he declared.
It doesn’t matter to me if I play every three, six, or seven days. It’s alright.
However, it is quite difficult to wrap off the season and then, in three weeks, start over in Asia or the States in order to have financial stability. That is extremely difficult for us as well as the players in particular. For me, things ought to be different. This is what I’m trying to say.
When will Man City play Brentford?
The City vs. Brentford game has not yet been rescheduled.
The location of the match will be largely determined by City’s continued involvement in the Champions League and the FA Cup runs of both teams.
