Brad Pitt is currently making a movie about Formula 1 and it will continue production this month at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Filming for the much awaited Brad Pitt Formula 1 film will now take place in the United States at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Producer Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, is working with director Joseph Kosinski on the film, which does not yet have a title.
It was filmed at several Grand Prix events throughout the F1 season of the previous year, using APX GP, a fictitious 11th F1 team.
For the racing footage, a Dallara-built Formula 2 chassis that had been altered to resemble an F1 car was used, along with a makeshift garage.
But the Formula One season ended in November, and it won’t start up again until early March.
According to RACER, in order to make up for the absence, the production will use the Daytona International Speedway during the IMSA’s Roar Before The 24 event, which takes place from January 19–21, and will continue into the 24 Hours of Daytona the following week.
The forthcoming photos are scheduled to occur during official sessions when other vehicles are on the course, which is one significant difference between the F1 and IMSA procedures.
With the exception of the British Grand Prix, where the two APX GP cars lined up at the back of the grid for the formation lap, all on-track running occurred outside of official sessions throughout the F1 race weekends that served as the setting for the film.
According to RACER, the car will be a GTD entry and feature in the plot when Pitt’s character, a veteran driver, decides to enter the Formula One race after retiring.
It’s unknown whether an arrangement has been reached with an existing GTD team to use the character name and livery for the weekend, or if the car would be a one-time addition to the grid.
