Manchester City player decides to stay after chat with Pep Guardiola
Reports from Pianeta Milan state that AC Milan has looked into the possibility of signing Sergio Gómez of Manchester City on a winter transfer.
Nine times this season, the 23-year-old has been featured, with two league outings totaling 14 minutes of action.
As of right now, Manchester City just has him as a recognised left defender. Though this is the case, Pep Guardiola has chosen Joško Gvardiol and Nathan Aké over the Spaniard.
Gómez was willing to leave the Etihad this month and was sought after by Milan. Guardiola appears to have persuaded him to stay with the Citizens, thus the possibility of signing him has vanished.
The former Anderlecht player had thought about going on loan because of “limited playing time,” but according to TuttoMercatoWeb, he has decided to stay at Manchester City.
After meeting with Guardiola in the last few hours, the fullback allegedly made the decision to end the season with the Premier League winners.
Is the player receiving assurances from the manager that his playing time will increase in the upcoming months?
Gómez’s contract expires in 2026, and if Guardiola doesn’t use him, he may think about leaving Manchester City in the summer of 2026.
