Harry Kane, according to Thomas Tuchel, is well on his approach to surpassing Robert Lewandowski’s 41-goal Bundesliga record this season.
After it stood for 39 years, Lewandowski broke Gerd Muller’s record in 2021 to set a new record for most goals in a single Bundesliga season.
With Die Roten’s 16 remaining Bundesliga games, Kane has to score another 19 goals to complete his 22 goals from Friday’s 3-0 victory against Hoffenheim.
“It is in danger,” Tuchel told ESPN when asked whether Kane may break the record.
It is in danger, despite the fact that no one could have predicted it would. A little bit of luck is what we need. After Harry gets healthy and the squad continues to perform, we’ll see what’s next. Harry seems to have no boundaries, in my opinion.
At the end of last season, the 30-year-old signed a contract with Bayern Munich, leaving Tottenham. With 213, the England player holds the record for most goals scored by Spurs.
“To be honest, it’s just a gift to be his coach,” stated Tuchel.
“I feel quite fortunate. He is quite modest. Every day, he is the first person on the pitch. Any task you ask him to complete, he will. He has a big personality and is quite humble, but when it comes to the game, he is all about winning and scoring goals.
“He does it every single day. He scores more than just once a day. He is a good trainer. He takes action when it’s necessary. He demonstrates his abilities.
His simple presence soothes and uplifts everyone in his vicinity. It’s the greatest tier. I can express it this way both as a human and at the greatest level of football.”
