Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa is a sought-after man. In an attempt to recruit him to the Etihad Stadium, Man City, one of the Premier League’s top clubs, is rumored to have entered the fight for his signature.
This is in line with a Football Insider story that states Luiz will demand a “huge” fee of £100 million. From 2017 to 2019, the 11-cap Brazilian international was a player for City; however, he did not play in the Premier League with the Sky Blues’ senior team during that period.
In July 2019, he was sold to Villa for an extremely small sum of £15 million. Luiz has already made 159 appearances for the Villans and scored 17 goals in that time. They will stop at nothing to keep him at Villa Park throughout the campaign since he has been a crucial part of their machine this season.
Who else would be interested in moving for Douglas Luiz of Aston Villa?
Luiz is not the only major player that large clubs are interested in signing. Liverpool, Barcelona, and Arsenal have all been strongly linked to a bid for the star in recent weeks. Although there is a lot of interest in Luiz, Villa and Unai Emery are standing their ground and are not giving in to the possibility of receiving a large deal.
The Gunners are reportedly in the lead in the race to sign Luiz, but the addition of City to the mix could see them priced out. The Sky Blues are among the wealthiest teams in the world, and Arsenal still needs to bounce back from a summer filled with big-ticket purchases that included the arrival of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber.
