Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso would not be among the two drivers Eddie Jordan, the former owner of an F1 team, suggested he would only pick two to compete against Max Verstappen for the World Championship.
For the past two seasons, Verstappen has dominated the sport. He won his second and third Drivers’ titles while setting two consecutive records for the most wins—15 in 2022 and 17 last season.
With only Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez and Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz stopping him last season, as well as McLaren’s Oscar Piastri in the Qatar Sprint, the Dutchman’s dominant form has allowed him to win despite eliminations during qualifying.
Jordan said, “I have experienced a lot over the years,” comparing Verstappen to two legendary athletes in an interview with F1 Insider.
It was evident from the opening test with Michael Schumacher that he would be Ayrton Senna’s rival. Right first, we believed the stopwatch was broken because he was moving so quickly.
“Another driver I worked with was Heinz-Harald Frentzen, who is still, in my opinion, the most underappreciated Formula One racer ever. He had talent by nature. But Max Verstappen reminds me of a cross between Senna and Schumacher.”
