Arsenal have recently been linked with several prospective signings, but the north London club has yet to make an official move this month.
The Gunners needs to move quickly if they want to complete any business this month, as there is only one week left until deadline day.
Will Arsenal make any progress during this last week of the window, then? There is still one probable signing, according to David Ornstein, who was speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast.
Ornstein even suggests that Arsenal may yet recruit a defensive player this month if the proper opportunity arises.
Arsenal may yet acquire a defender.
Ornstein gave his assessment on what Arsenal could do.
This is the point at which you refuse, something occurs, making you appear foolish and making you the centre of attention. There haven’t been any noteworthy developments that point to a deal before the market closes. Defensive reinforcement could be a response to events in the market, Mikel Arteta’s determination that they require additional defensive cover, the emergence of the ideal opportunity, and the deal’s conditions being acceptable. Ornstein stated, “They are considering players, but that kind of thing is still very new and there’s a good chance it won’t work out.
Do they need one?
Although we have to wonder if this is truly a required addition, Arsenal might yet acquire a defender this month.
The Gunners have enough of quality cover at the defence, especially with Jurrien Timber expected back shortly. At this stage, though, it could be more vital to add someone to the attacking or midfield positions.
We can’t quite accept the notion that Arsenal needs additional defenders as the season draws to a close, even if Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be more aware of the demands of his team than we are.
