Before the January transfer window closes, Karim Benzema, the former striker for Real Madrid, was reportedly offered a contract by Chelsea, but the club declined.
Less than a year after completing his profitable transfer to the Saudi Pro League, Benzema is advocating for his departure from Al-Ittihad.
A possible deal for the 36-year-old has been approached by Manchester United and Arsenal, among other Premier League and European clubs.
Before the January transfer window closes, Chelsea has also been offered the chance to bring Benzema into the team, but The Athletic reports that the club wants to “priorities emerging elite talent.”
Conor Gallagher’s future is still unclear, according to the source, as Chelsea may decide to move the midfield player before this Thursday’s market ends at 11 p.m.
Additionally, it’s said that Chelsea has talked to Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran about a potential trade.
The 20-year-old was linked to Chelsea earlier this month, but Villa hopes to turn a big profit on the player they acquired from MLS team Chicago Fire for £18 million last summer.
The fact that Duran is presently out of action because of a hamstring injury is another issue for Chelsea.
