Aston Villa will now host Newcastle United in their return to Premier League play this week.
Unai Emery’s team will be trying to get back into the goal-scoring habit after two straight goalless draws.
The Villains went to Stamford Bridge to play Chelsea in the FA Cup fourth round the last time they were there. Douglas Luiz appeared to have given them the lead, but a handball called the goal back.
Villa will be back in Premier League action tonight as they attempt to continue their strong start to the season. It is unfortunate to inform you that they will be missing a number of important players when the Magpies visit.
Four key Aston Villa players out injured
This season, there haven’t been many first-team injuries to the Villans over the entire campaign.
For starters, Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia sustained season-ending injuries during the preseason. There are now several more serious injuries to deal with.
Four stars will not be playing in the forthcoming match, as announced by a message on Aston Villa’s official social media accounts.
In response, they stated: “The manager confirms that Jacob Ramsey is a doubt and that Pau Torres, Lucas Digne, and Jhon Durán are unavailable to face Newcastle United.”
It is regrettable that these four will be sidelined by injuries, especially going into a match against a very good Newcastle team.
Torres has been outstanding this season and is one of Villa’s most crucial back-line players for creating attacks. It’s safe to assume that Clement Lenglet falls short of the Spaniard, even though he’s a valuable backup option.
Another exceptional player in the Villans’ back four, Digne excels both offensively and defensively. Because of this, Alex Moreno has taken over and performed admirably. Even now, it still bothers me that the Frenchman is absent.
Although it’s been reported that Duran will be absent for several weeks, it seems odd given the rumors that he may be leaving the club. As a squad option, he will be missed, but he hasn’t played much lately.
Ramsey has been connected to a move away from Villa Park this week, with Newcastle being one of the teams mentioned. It should be noted that due to his injury concerns, it is uncertain if he will play versus the Toon.
As the team enters a busy stretch of the season, Emery and his group are affected by these four absences.
