Jude Bellingham, who is currently the team’s pivotal player, looks back on his season thus far and highlights his incredible experiences at the Bernabeu.
“You know Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world, but when you experience it up close, especially at the Bernabeu with the renovations, it’s something spectacular,” Bellingham says in an interview posted on the team website. Playing in a coliseum is how it feels. You get a gladiatorial feeling. It’s quite unique. You can never quite appreciate the size of this club. You can never leave the house without running into someone. This club is above the rest.”
Bellingham moved to Madrid last summer and says he already feels at home there: “This city makes me feel at home. My friends have come to visit and they adore the city; my family is happy here. Fans and locals alike are really courteous. I get excellent treatment. It seems like I’ve been here for years, both with my teammates and the coaching staff. I’m thrilled with this start, and now the goal is to keep up this form for the duration of the season at this fantastic club.”
Bellingham considers how his job has changed since joining this team and how his goal total has gone up since leaving Dortmund: “My role has changed since I came to this club.” I played deeper at Dortmund, but I scored a lot of goals. It was more difficult to score. I now play with the top players in the world, closer to a ’10’. I can move wherever on the pitch, and I enjoy using my creativity to shoot, create, and score goals. My teammates and the coach deserve all the credit.”
Bellingham acknowledges that joining Madrid has altered his life, but he maintains his integrity, saying, “I’m the same person at home, with friends, and in interviews. I adore making jokes, laughing, and having fun. I have a fantastic opportunity to pursue my passion. Few others in the world can make the same claim, and I appreciate the progress I’m making.”
As they come to an end, Bellingham shares his thoughts on taking home his first championship, the Spanish Super Cup: “It was a great moment, and I’m really pleased of it right now. Travelling to Saudi Arabia during the peak of the season and just after the winter break is not simple. We faced out against two strong teams. We won the first game, I believe. Unfortunately, extra time was required, but the squad once again displayed character.
Our class and top-notch were clear in the final. It was important to win my first title. Such moments are what you join this club for, and it felt good to hold a trophy in your hands at last. I’m hoping for more. You just have to keep going, train hard, be a decent guy, treat people with respect, and take each day as it comes,” he continued.
