Due to Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez’s injury, Manchester United has backed Martinez to return “soon.”
During Sunday’s 3-0 victory over West Ham at Old Trafford by the Red Devils, Martinez was called off. Before United’s next Premier League game against Aston Villa, manager Erik ten Hag gave a dismal assessment of the player following the final whistle.
“I can’t say, it doesn’t look good so there’s a big concern, but we have to wait for the coming days what the diagnosis is then we can tell you more,” he explained. “We make every effort to obtain an accurate diagnosis in order to determine the extent of the harm.
“He feels deeply dejected and sorrowful. We are all truly at one with him. When things becomes very bad, it’s a personal disaster first and foremost. However, let’s wait and see.
“But for the team, also it is really bad because he definitely brings us a lot.”
Since then, Martinez has received a sincere message from colleague Diogo Dalot. “We feel your anguish. My brother, you’ll be back soon,” he captioned a tale on Instagram.
Following their FA Cup rematch against Chelsea in the middle of the week, Villa will host United at Villa Park in the Premier League on Sunday.
