Newcastle United have reportedly included Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly on their summer transfer shortlist
Newcastle United’s Summer Shortlist Grows with Ex-Player Addition
In a recent report, the Daily Mail stated that the Magpies are eager to sign the soon-to-be free agent.
Though not just in England, there is interest in 25-year-old Kelly. Football Insider reports that the full-back, who was born in Bristol, is also strongly connected to a high-profile move to Serie A powerhouse AC Milan.
The 25-year-old has already worked with Eddie Howe during his time as manager of Bournemouth, so he may have an advantage. Additionally, the Magpies may have to pursue unsigned players this summer in order to stay within the strict Financial Fair Play margins.
It appears like Kelly will leave the team at the conclusion of the season to pursue a new challenge, regardless of what the Geordies decide to do in the summer. Kelly is rumored to have rejected repeated contract renewal offers from the Cherries.
Kelly, who has played for England’s under-20 and under-21 teams, has spent five years at the Vitality Stadium. In 131 games across all competitions, he has three goals and seven assists.
