Hamad Medjedovic sadly reflects on time at Serb’s tennis center before it was shut down
When Hamad Medjedovic was just 16 years old, the 24-time Grand Slam champion himself noticed him and invited him to attend the tennis centre managed by his father, Novak Djokovic.
The youthful Serb has now achieved several impressive feats on the ATP Tour, like as winning the 2023 Next Gen Finals. He credits the Belgrade-based centre for providing him with the support and strong foundation that led to his achievement.
Thus, it makes sense that he was upset about the center’s closing. In an interview with the Reketiranje podcast, Medjedovic stated that Djokovic had a plan to use his centre to help the young Serbian talent, but that the ambition was dashed.
Despite having a number of promising tennis players, the 20-year-old voiced dismay at the lack of suitable training facilities in the nation.
