Luke Littler’s recent actions have disqualified him from the PDC Development Tour, so he will not be allowed to participate in the event this weekend.
Darts phenomenon Luke Littler is not permitted to reclaim his title from the PDC Development Tour.
The 17-year-old prodigy’s recent accomplishments will prevent him from competing in this weekend’s PDC Development Tour opener. Littler took home the PDC World Youth Championship last year, and the series is open to players between the ages of 16 and 23, according to the Express.
On Friday, February 23, the show that gave Littler his big break premiered. He qualified for the World Darts Championship after winning the 2023 World Youth Championship, and he shocked the darts world by reaching the Ally Pally final.
One of his many impressive accomplishments in recent times is his victory at the Bahrain Masters, which he earned by defeating Michael van Gerwen in the championship match with a nine-darter. In the PDC Order of Merit, he is now ranked thirty-first.
However, players rated in the top 32 are not permitted to participate the Development Tour. As a result, the adolescent is ineligible to play in the World Darts Championship series. At the conclusion of the season, he is still eligible to compete in the World Youth Championship.
Littler, who is still focused on his Premier League campaign and will go to Exeter for Night Five of the competition next Thursday, February 29, may not be too bothered by his exclusion. In the quarterfinals, he will face former world champion Michael Smith in an attempt to capture his first night-time title.
The native of St. Helens has high hopes for the Warrington wonderkid, speculating that he can surpass 16-time world champion Phil Taylor in the sport. However, Littler expressed humility and added, “I don’t think anyone’s breaking that record. The idea that I could possibly be bigger than Phil is absolutely absurd.
