Rhea Ripley delivered a teary interview after winning the main event in her home country of Australia.
In Perth, Australia, Rhea Ripley faced Nia Jax in the WWE Elimination Chamber main event, which drew in almost 50,000 of her fellow citizens. With an uphill battle ahead of her versus Jax, The Nightmare managed to weather every blow, including an Annihilator, before delivering a riptide to The Irresistible Force to keep the Women’s World Championship.
Following the event, Ripley discussed how memorable the evening was for her in a WWE Digital Exclusive interview with Byron Saxton. The celebrity fought back tears as she acknowledged that the crowd’s response had “taken her aback.”
To be honest, it’s difficult to express exactly how unique this is. I’m still in shock at how the crowd responded to seeing my family there. To tell the truth, I really gave it time to sink in at the very end when I got that additional bit of alone time.
It’s funny since I had a strange memory of my previous Australian match. I remember sitting in the middle of the ring, taking in everything and the fans, letting them in and allowing them to affect me in a way that I don’t really attempt to let them affect me. I defended my title and then I left Champion because Mami’s always on top.
I didn’t even realise I was doing it again tonight, and it brought back those memories. It was a truly amazing experience for me. I detest crying in public, but I suppose you have to see all sides of Mami.
Becky Lynch Is Warned By Rhea Ripley About WrestleMania 40
Becky Lynch won the Elimination Chamber match earlier in the evening, securing a title showdown against Ripley at WrestleMania 40. The only previous time the two had faced off was in NXT, and there was no clear winner in that bout, so Ripley acknowledged that it was a “bucket list moment” for her.
“I was watching very closely, and everyone in the Elimination Chamber did incredibly well. They all put up such a fantastic fight.”
“I believe facing Becky Lynch at WrestleMania is an incredible opportunity. Becky is the last of the Horsewomen, and I’ve almost knocked them all out. We’ve never had a bout finish because I haven’t entered the ring with her since NXT, and it was, you know, DQ’d by Shayna Baszler.
Therefore, I believe it is entirely appropriate that it takes place at ‘Mania.’ I also hope Becky is prepared because if she isn’t, her dreams will come true and Mami will triumph as usual.
