Ferrari has confirmed the signing of Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio, two players from Mercedes, ahead of this weekend’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
Under Enrico Cardile’s direction, Loic Serra will assume the position of Head of Chassis Performance Engineering, supervising several departments at Maranello, such as Vehicle Performance, Track Engineering, Aero Development, and Aero Operations.
Serra, who studied at Aix-en-Provence and Paris, was born in France in 1972 and holds a degree in mechanical engineering. He first worked for Michelin after graduating from college, and then for the Mercedes AMG and BMW-Sauber Formula 1 teams.
The Scuderia has created a new job for Jerome d’Ambrosio, who will join the team as Deputy Team Principal and report directly to Fred Vasseur. D’Ambrosio has also been named Head of the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy, which is the young driver initiative of the Maranello marque.
D’Ambrosio was a professional race car racer until 2020. He was born in Belgium in 1985. His resume includes three Formula E victories, one GP2 victory, and twenty Formula 1 Grands Prix driven between 2011 and 2012. He oversaw Mercedes’ young driver initiative and collaborated with Team Principal Toto Wolff in Stuttgart.
On October 1st, Loic Serra and Jerome d’Ambrosio will begin their employment with Scuderia Ferrari HP.
