Real Madrid looks to have their roster set for the upcoming season, despite having a strong possibility of winning the double this year.
The team is on course to sign Kylian Mbappe for nothing on a free transfer, and a few other teams might do the same. Real Madrid appears to have more ambitious aspirations, though, and they are beginning to lay the groundwork for their potential 2025 roster.
Will Florian Wirtz and Xabi Alonso join Real Madrid in 2025?
Journalist Christian Falk of SportBILD claims that Real Madrid is considering making a double move in 2025 to acquire Florian Wirtz and Xabi Alonso.
It should come as no surprise that Real Madrid is raiding Bayer Leverkusen, as Die Werkself has been Europe’s surprise package this year, winning the Bundesliga, among other things.
Leverkusen has also gone 50 games without a loss, the most in any of the top five leagues in Europe. Alonso, who has emerged as one of football’s most sought-after intellectuals in Europe, deserves a large portion of the credit.
Alonso’s contributions were also acknowledged, as other teams expressed interest in hiring him this summer. However, the Spaniard has declared that he would stay at Leverkusen for the upcoming campaign.
Real Madrid might consider moving in 2025 if Alonso decides to stay in Germany. Real Madrid is closely monitoring Alonso even if Carlo Ancelotti’s contract at Santiago Bernabeu does not expire until 2026.
Florian Wirtz, what about him?
Florian Wirtz has been the difference maker on the pitch, but Alonso has been the difference maker off it.
With 37 goal involvements throughout all tournaments, Wirtz is currently the most sought-after talent in all of Europe. He’s also a prime target for Real Madrid because of his ability to score goals and his inventiveness in the closing third.
Similar to Alonso, Wirtz is being considered by a number of teams for the summer. However, if the attacker stays with Leverkusen for the upcoming campaign, Real Madrid may have a great chance to sign him in the summer of 2025.
There’s no denying that the possible addition of Alonso and Wirtz might strengthen Real Madrid’s squad, which is already assembling a formidable team.
