Raphael Varane, a former centre back for France, will depart Manchester United at the end of the current campaign when his contract expires.
Varane, who is 31 years old, joined United in 2021 but has found it difficult to maintain the level of play he shown during his trophy-filled, ten-year tenure at Real Madrid.
Varane has only made 93 appearances in his three seasons at United due to injuries, which has also been a factor.
Varane posted on social media on Tuesday, saying, “To you guys, Manchester United supporters, it’s been an amazing few years to play for this special club and wear that shirt.” “As a Man United player, my first visit to Old Trafford was incredible; the atmosphere was incredible.
“I fell in love—both with the team and the supporters. To truly comprehend what that means, one must be a player for Manchester United. This is where my kids call home. It will always hold a particular place in my heart.”
Varane declared that he was “very positive for the future” in light of Jim Ratcliffe’s appointment as a co-owner, even if United is currently lagging behind in the English Premier League.
Varane stated, “The new owners are coming with a clear plan and a great strategy,” prior to Wednesday’s home game against Newcastle.
“I´ll see you at Old Trafford to say goodbye for the last game at home this season and it´s going to be very emotional day for me, for sure.”
