Joao Felix joined Barcelona on loan from Atletico Madrid on the last day of the transfer market last summer. However, he did not have the expected impact during the 2023–24 season, therefore it seemed doubtful that he would return to Catalonia this summer. He now has a much better chance of resigning, though.
According to Marca, Felix’s return on loan for a further season has been welcomed by Barcelona officials, as confirmed by new manager Hansi Flick. Flick thinks the Portuguese forward would be a great asset to his team, but no internal decision has been taken as of yet.
Felix would only be considered for a second loan if Barcelona made another approach, as they have no interest in signing him permanently. But it’s likely that they would insist on Atleti accepting the same conditions that were set for the contract from the previous season.
It does suggest that Barcelona is much more likely to secure Felix on their terms, as Atletico Madrid has no intention of keeping him for the upcoming season. While it’s unclear if a second loan will materialize, it does appear more likely than it did previously.
