Three players have reportedly started contract negotiations with Arsenal, the club has confirmed.
Manager Mikel Arteta waved Gooners off the Emirates Stadium, asking them not to be “satisfied” with the improvement his team has achieved. The Gunners finished the season second to Manchester City. This summer, a number of large outgoings are also likely to be added by Arsenal.
22 players, including Mohamed Elneny and Cedric Soares from the men’s first squad, have reportedly departed the club, according to Arsenal.com.
Interestingly, though, the team reports that Karl Hein, Reuell Walters, and Amario Cozier-Duberry have all reached the end of their contracts and are in negotiations to stay in the N5.
They state, “Discussions are ongoing, and we will communicate in due course once matters are finalised between all parties.” Over the last two years, all three players have been a part of first teams, but Arteta has not given any of them any playing time.
The Athletic recently revealed that Walters would be moving on from Hale End to fresh pastures.
Hein is the one who FourFourTwo believes has a higher chance of staying. The teenage goalie from Estonia has been David Raya’s backup over the past year, but with Aaron Ramsdale expected to leave the Emirates Stadium, the Estonian may get his chance.
