Jamie Carragher believes that Liverpool, under new manager Arne Slot, would not have the same problems as Manchester United and Arsenal had after making significant managerial changes. Klopp was replaced by Klopp.
Liverpool, who have been led by the renowned Klopp since October 2015, will be going through a period of change and uncertainty this summer.
Before leaving this summer, he was the Premier League’s longest-serving manager. Former Feyenoord manager Slot was brought in to lead the team into a new era.
With Liverpool undergoing major internal changes, the Dutchman will assume the title of “head coach” rather than “manager.” However, the club’s supporters understandably worry that the Reds would suffer without the charismatic Klopp.
Although some have brought attention to the challenges encountered by Manchester United and Arsenal with the departure of long-serving managers Arsene Wenger and Alex Ferguson from the dugout, former Liverpool defender Carragher is confident that his team won’t experience the same fate.
Arne Slot is backed by Jamie Carragher.
In an interview with the Metro, Carragher supported Slot to maintain stability at Liverpool and prevent the kind of decline experienced by the team’s opponents over the previous ten years.
Carragher thinks the 45-year-old coach will help uphold Liverpool’s standards, but the organized system in place behind the scenes is what gives the former Red the greatest assurance.
“After Alex Ferguson left, Manchester United dropped from first to seventh place. I don’t think Liverpool will fall to tenth place because we recently finished third’, stated Carragher.
“If we get a strong summer transfer window, I think we’ll be competitive. Behind the scenes, there are individuals.
“When Ferguson departed Manchester United, I don’t think they had that framework in place. With Wenger, it was the same. Those were the bygone days of traditional football managers handling everything.
Those days are gone because you practically have to start over when a manager like that walks on. This is true of any manager. No manager, in my opinion, would desire that. The fact that Arne Slot will serve as head coach instead of manager, in my opinion, is quite telling.
“I don’t think Liverpool will suffer as much as Arsenal and Manchester United. Although Jurgen Klopp is an excellent football manager, there may be a decline, but I still anticipate Liverpool to contend for all titles, including the Champions League.”
