Marc Guiu, a young player from Barcelona, has been the subject of a lot of talk in recent days due to growing interest from elite clubs throughout Europe.
Chelsea and Bayern Munich were the teams expressing interest in signing him, and it seems as though Chelsea will have the best chance to sign the 18-year-old.
The Blues are prepared to activate Guiu’s €6 million release clause, which is set to expire in 2025, and sign him.
Barcelona has been attempting to extend Guiu’s contract, but the negotiations have moved very slowly and no deal has been reached.
Guiu makes clues near the end
However, it now seems quite possible that Guiu will depart this summer; in fact, the promotion playoff final between Barça Athletic and Cordoba last night may be the last one he plays for the team.
Although sources in the Barça Atletico dressing room acknowledge that Guiu has privately indicated his wish to go on, SPORT’s Toni Juanmarti reports that the teenager has not told Barcelona he is leaving.
The 18-year-old striker is considering his options while the Catalan club waits for a response on the renewal offer, and he is strongly inclined to accept Chelsea’s offer.
In addition to recently renewing the contracts of several young players, including Pau Cubarsi, Hector Fort, Marc Bernal, and Marc Casado, Barcelona has been attempting to extend Guiu’s contract.
Neither the player’s family nor his representatives, who have been working toward a potential transfer by paying the €6 million termination clause, have been persuaded by Barça’s offer, though.
Guiu looks for assurances.
Guiu needs assurances that he will be a first-team player for all intents and purposes in order to stay at Barça; yet, this is impossible to promise because of Vitor Roque, Robert Lewandowski, and Ferran Torres.
Barça has informed him that they will be depending on him in the middle term, particularly in light of Lewandowski’s advanced age and Roque’s likely loan exit.
Lewandowski and Ferran are ahead of him, but the 18-year-old striker, who is eager to play every week, is not persuaded.
Furthermore, Barça is unable to make any sporting promises to the striker as Hansi Flick will make the final decision.
However, Chelsea has offered a deal that is significantly larger than Barcelona’s, despite the Spanish team’s best efforts to hold onto the attacker. The English team’s offer, however, does not even come close to matching Barcelona’s.
Because of this, many close to the Barça Atletico team now acknowledge that Guiu has given up on wanting to go on if Barça are unable to persuade him.
