Arsenal was rumored to have made a huge bid for Alexander Isak, the goal machine at Newcastle United.
The news that Alexander Isak is not for sale has reportedly caused Arsenal to switch their focus and go after a winger.
The talisman of Newcastle United had been linked to the Gunners by some publications. A club record acquisition on Tyneside two years ago, Isak has grown into one of Europe’s best strikers.
In 67 games in all competitions, the Swede has scored 35 goals despite his difficulties with injuries. Aside from goals, Isak’s all-around skill set has drawn comparisons to Thierry Henry, a legendary Arsenal player.
Arsenal was reportedly considering making a huge deal to entice the 24-year-old away from St. James’ Park, but Isak already pledged his allegiance to the Magpies earlier this year. “I want to be here at Newcastle in the future, of course,” he remarked. I feel at home here, and even though I came for the project, I enjoy playing. This is my favorite place to play.
According to The Independent, Arsenal plans to acquire a winger instead of pursuing a striker. The revelation is sure to infuriate Gooners, as many believe that a productive No. 9 is the last piece needed to win the Premier League.
Additionally, Mikel Arteta has a wide range of possibilities including Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard. As for Newcastle, they were never in a difficult position to let go of Isak because his contract was still good for four years.
To sign the striker, a potential suitor would probably have to destroy the British transfer record. A fortnight ago, Toon CEO Darren Eales also declared that Isak, along with prominent names like Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes, will not be leaving this summer.
