Toni Kroos, a veteran German midfielder, has been linked to a transfer to the Premier League.
Kroos has been a key player for Real Madrid’s La Liga powerhouse squad during the past few seasons in the middle of the field.
The German moved to Madrid for the first time from Bayern Munich in 2014 in a transaction valued reportedly between €24 and €30 million.
He has since played more than 420 times for Los Blancos, winning four Champions League and three La Liga championships in the process.
Kroos’ possibilities have been constrained as of late because of the rise of Federico Valverde as well as the arrivals of Jude Bellingham and Aurelien Tchouameni. Kroos is currently 33 years old.
Kroos has been linked with an unexpected move to the Premier League because his contract with Real Madrid is slated to expire at the end of the current campaign.
German midfielder is wanted by English champions Manchester City, claims Spanish news portal Defensa Central.
If the deal is approved, Kroos and Pep Guardiola will reunite after their time spent working together at Bayern.
There were times when the two did not agree throughout their time working together in the Bundesliga.
After expressing anger at being replaced, Kroos was benched for the following two games.
In an interview with the Einfach mal Luppen podcast, Kroos explained the argument, saying, “We had an excellent conversation and were able to address the situation within five minutes. I didn’t like the change, end of story.
Guardiola presumably thought it was crucial that I tried to communicate with him directly.
In the past, Kroos has also spoken highly of Guardiola.
“He was the key figure for German football and for me personally,” he told The Athletic. He helped everyone realize how crucial control is.
I adored representing him over that one season.
