Football Insider has been informed by sources that Arsenal is moving closer to signing Ben White to an enhanced contract.
Discussions are in full swing, and both sides are eager to reach a deal that would enable the 26-year-old to remain permanently at Emirates Stadium.
A new contract for White is the next item on the club’s management’s agenda. Arsenal has already signed a number of first-team players recently, including Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and William Saliba.
In the upcoming months, as Mikel Arteta’s team gets ready to launch another Premier League title bid, his renewal is anticipated to be finalized, provided an agreement is reached.
Football Insider has learned from a reliable source that Arteta is a “huge admirer” of White and believes he will be an important member of the first squad in the years to come.
The former Brighton defender, whose contract at the Emirates Stadium expires in June 2026, is said to have cost £50 million in 2021.
He started out for the team as a center back, but Arteta’s team excelled when he played right back as they challenged Man City for the championship the previous year.
The England international has remained in that capacity for the current campaign, reportedly earning a weekly salary of £120,000.
In his fifteen appearances overall across all competitions, he has started every Premier League game and scored one goal.
White has played for Arsenal in 98 games and will likely surpass the century mark in November.
The 26-year-old, despite his incredible run for the Gunners in the Premier League, last appeared for England in March 2022.
Last year, he was a member of Gareth Southgate’s World Cup team, but he left the tournament after two group matches due to personal issues.
