Anthony Joshua Firmly Backs Fury in Epic Battle Against Usyk
Anthony Joshua’s career aim was to hold all four titles, but he may not have lived up to that ambition after losing back-to-back to Usyk, the cruiserweight champion.
Tyson Fury’s WBC title bout is scheduled for February 17; Usyk currently owns the WBA, WBO, and IBF titles.
While there are those who believe that Joshua would support the British fighter in the event of a future matchup, possibly including a world title, Joshua told TNT Sports that he is fully in favour of his former rival.
Though I’m not sure who will win, I support Usyk nonetheless. Although Fury has said a lot of negative things about me, there is still respect. I will never ride with someone who treats me disrespectfully. I consider myself to be fairly rational, so that would make me insane. Therefore, I will choose the individual who treats me with respect.
Joshua responded that he would still be eager to fight Fury if Usyk prevailed, but that time was running short.
“Yes, for the sake of entertainment value. But it’s getting a little bit drawn out. They’re going to fight twice. The first match, followed by the rematch. Perhaps Fury will only compete in two fights next year.
That means I won’t see Fury for another twelve months, but maybe he can squeeze one in with me before the year ends. Still, we either got Parker or we got Wilder. We had more significant fights.
battle December 23, Joshua takes battle Otto Wallin in the ring once more. On March 9, if he and Deontay Wilder—who fights Joseph Parker on the same card—win, they are scheduled to square off.
