Sergio Reguilon has officially departed Man Utd.
As a result of Manchester United opting to activate a clause in his contract that allowed them to end the loan early, the 27-year-old will be returning to Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur, the club said today.
The team stated that Diogo Dalot can fill in for Sergio Reguilon, and that the reason he was handed his back was because Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw will soon be fully fit again.
Reguilon posted a farewell message on Instagram for Manchester United.
A letter from Sergio Reguilon to Manchester United supporters
Shortly after the announcement, the Spaniard moved to Instagram to bid a fond farewell to all of the Manchester United supporters, as well as his teammates and other team members. The article said:
Playing for Manchester United has been an incredible experience, and I would like to express my gratitude to the squad, supporters, and other players. Being able to perform for such a large club was an honour. My best wishes are with the Red Devils.
A heartfelt homage from Reguilon, who has demonstrated until the end that, during his tenure at Old Trafford, he was always fervently devoted about United.
That’s why it’s disappointing to see him go, even though he only participated in 12 games and contributed neither a goal nor an assist.
Following Sergio Reguilon’s departure, David de Gea and Kobbie Mainoo delivered a message to Reguilon via Instagram’s comments area. It said:
“Many thanks and best wishes, Sergio,” the fist bump emoji said.
Both Spanish players David de Gea and Kobbie Mainoo, the left-back’s current teammate, left remarks as well, although they were unable to say anything positive about him. All they said in response were heart emojis.
Reguilon has our gratitude for his time at United and our best wishes for the future.
