Man city is one of several keeping an eye on the situation surrounding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s agent revealed the winger would ‘probably accept’ on a move to the Etihad, giving Manchester City a significant advantage in their pursuit of him.
Kvaratskhelia, who is currently at Napoli and is developing into one of Europe’s most intriguing wingers, is being watched by a number of elite European clubs, including City. Despite more serious problems at the club, the 22-year-old played a key role in his team’s Serie A victory the previous season and has maintained his excellent play into this one.
A deepening feud between Kvaratskhelia’s agent and star striker Victor Osimhen is the cause of instability in Naples. After a falling out with club executives, Osimhen appeared destined to depart in the summer, but he signed a new contract in December.
Mamuka Jugeli, Kvaratskhelia’s agent, took issue with the striker and implied that a move to Manchester would be imminent. The new contract is rumoured to involve a significant pay increase.
Jugeli said to Georgian source 1TV Sport, “[Victor] Osimhen’s contract was increased by Napoli, but Khvicha wouldn’t accept a transfer to Saudi even if he was offered a billion euros.” He would most likely consent to play for Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, or Barcelona, for instance. Khvicha has distinct aspirations and objectives; he is succeeding and wants to be successful.”
In the summer, Kvaratskhelia also drew a lot of transfer interest, but he chose to remain at Napoli since playing time was assured there. Although the Romanian and the agent have been in talks for several months, there doesn’t seem to have been any tangible movement.
His current contract expires in 2027, and rumours have it that Napoli would need to spend €100 million (£86 million) to sit down and negotiate an extension. It is unclear how interested City is in the winger, given that Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of Jack Grealish, who plays in comparable positions.
In the summer, City also paid £55.5 million to sign Jeremy Doku from Rennes, and Phil Foden is a versatile player who can play on either the left or right side.
