Jeremie Frimpong, a defender for Bayer Leverkusen, has mentioned Liverpool as a possible destination if he is successful in landing a Premier League deal this summer.
With just three months remaining in the season, Leverkusen has amassed an eight-point lead over Bayern Munich thanks to Xabi Alonso’s team’s incredible season. The Dutch right-back has been in excellent form during this run.
The German club’s use of Frimpong has been crucial to their style of play, bridging impressive gaps between their attack and defense. The 23-year-old has helped his teammates score seven goals and offer seven assists, while
Alejandro Grimaldo has been equally successful for Leverkusen on the other wing.
The former Manchester City academy prospect’s performances have drawn attention in England, where several Premier League clubs are rumored to be interested in signing Frimpong after 2023–2024.
Along with Edmond Tapsoba, his Leverkusen teammate, United has been keeping an eye on the full-back and last year had talks with his representatives. However, the player has now made it possible for him to sign with Liverpool, where Alonso may also join him.
“Liverpool?,” he asked, speaking to Soccer News via Ziggo Sport. Fantastic club with a rich past. That would be fantastic. Who can predict what the future holds.” This summer, Alonso might wind up at Anfield as Liverpool looks for a new manager to replace Jurgen Klopp. Even Klopp, who will not select his successor, said recently that the Leverkusen coach is now the best applicant for the position.
Klopp remarked, “Xabi is doing an incredible job.” If no rumors were circulating, that would be entirely independent. Eight weeks ago, if you had asked me about Xabi Alonso, I would have said, “Oh my God.”
“As I’ve always said, call the dinosaurs Ancelotti, Mourinho, Guardiola, and me, but we won’t do it. Well, maybe not Mourinho, but the rest of us won’t do it for the next 20 years. The next generation is here already, and Xabi stands out in my opinion in that regard.”
