During the final preseason test in Qatar, Marco Bezzecchi finally settled into the Desmosedici GP23.
During the last MotoGP pre-season race in Qatar, Marco Bezzecchi made a significant advancement with the Ducati GP23.
After finishing just 17th in the previous Sepang test, the triple 2023 grand prix champion was able to “stop the bike much, much better” at Lusail.
After completing one lap, the Italian placed tenth (+0.726s), but his longer Sprint simulation speed placed him in the top five.
“I’m happy compared to Malaysia, but I wanted to make a little bit more in the time attack.” We’ve advanced much,” Bezzecchi declared.
“I enjoyed riding the bike much more and felt much more at ease.”
I wasn’t moving at a terrible pace. Except for Aleix [Espargaro] and Martin, the two extremely fast factory Ducatis, I believe that all the other riders are pretty comparable, and I’m glad to be there as well.
I was much farther away in Malaysia, that’s why.
Bezzecchi continued, “I’ve finally figured out a much, much better way to stop the bike.” “Even now, there seems to be something lacking in both the opening and the last portion of the brake.” It’s difficult for me to turn the bike in that direction because it has a greater grip on this one.
“But I can finally stop, so I don’t suffer any more also in traction, compared to Malaysia.”
Four riders, including Bezzecchi, are utilizing the Desmosedici GP23 from last year, while Francesco Bagnaia, the reigning double-world champion, is riding the most recent GP24, which once again led the timesheets.
“Being the world champion, he is often the favorite to begin the season. However, Bezzecchi said that initially you usually need some time and struggle a little bit when you bring a new bike.
But they come very quickly [straightaway] [with the GP24].
“In addition to Pecco, Enea [Bastianini] and Jorge [Martin].” Pecco a bit more, but they move quickly anyhow. Though aware that he will be the tough guy to beat, I’m not concerned.
Fabio di Giannantonio, his new VR46 teammate, was two places ahead of Bezzecchi in eighth place but once again among the fastest during his Sprint simulation. The GP23 driver has appeared at ease since his first circuits.
