Arsenal’s bosses will be working hard behind the scenes ahead of the summer transfer window officially opening on June 14.
The Gunners have lost big leads to Premier League winners Manchester City in each of the last two seasons, finishing second overall. As a result, manager Mikel Arteta will look to boost his team this summer.
Although it has been reported that the North London team would search for a new central midfield player to play alongside Declan Rice, it seems as though Arsenal is fighting to retain one of their defenders.
Journalist Santi Aouna of The Evening Standard reports that Italian powerhouse AC Milan has prioritized Jakub Kiwior, the full-back for Arsenal, during the summer transfer season.
According to the source, Milan is about to rekindle their interest in the 24-year-old after making a failed attempt to recruit the Poland international in January.
Kiwior has played 38 games for the Gunners in all competitions since joining the team in January 2023 from Italian team Spezia.
The Polish defender can play in the middle of defense, but his primary position last season was left-back.
Kiwior’s current deal with Arsenal is scheduled to expire at the end of the 2027–2028 campaign, but Milan is expected to try again this summer to entice him away from London.
Since coming to the Emirates, the Poland international has mostly served as a backup to players like Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu and is not a sure starter for Arteta’s team.
