Declared a “dream,” Aaron Anselmino is set to transfer to Chelsea soon.
Due in London for a medical, the young defender will likely spend the entire upcoming season on loan at his present club, Boca Juniors, before making the £17 million switch to Stamford Bridge.
The 19-year-old is seen by Blues management as just another young player with enough potential to make it into their starting lineup in the future, so they plan to carefully monitor his development.
The Argentine, who only made his first-team debut for the Buenos Aires giants in June 2023, has reached a long-term contract agreement with Chelsea.
Before boarding his aircraft to the English city, Anselmino spoke with ESPN and stated, “I’m very happy, everything happened very quickly.”
“I’ve wanted this since I was a young lad; things are going well, and I hope they stay that way. This is a chance that every football player dreams of, therefore I’m overjoyed.
During the Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital era, Chelsea has signed a number of young South American prospects; throughout the last few transfer windows, Kendry Paez, Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington, and Angelo Gabriel have all joined.
The team will also welcome back legendary Brazilian player Estevao Willian in the summer after he agreed a £29.5 million deal to leave Palmeiras.
In addition, Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, who is expected to join Chelsea for £20.7 million, has scheduled a medical.
