Before his team’s preseason friendly against Bayer Leverkusen, Jurrien Timber, an Arsenal star, has reportedly suffered an injury setback.
After sustaining a significant knee injury in Arsenal’s opening match of the 2023–24 season, the Netherlands international returned to competitive play in the preseason.
Despite playing for Arsenal’s U21 team in April and May, Timber’s injury kept him out of the game for the remainder of the season.
Although he was not present for Arsenal’s match against Liverpool last week, the defender was part of two of the team’s first three preseason matches.
Although it is thought that Timber’s current condition is unrelated to his prior knee injury, The Times reporter Gary Jacob has now confirmed that Timber is dealing with a “load-bearing” problem.
Jacob said he’ll probably be out of the friendly against Lyon this coming weekend. On Wednesday night, Arsenal play Bayer Leverkusen.
Next weekend’s Premier League opener for the Gunners is against Wolves, and it’s unclear if Timber has a short window of time to recover.
In a February interview with Arsenal’s official website, Timber talked candidly about how his protracted recuperation from his knee injury has strengthened him in preparation for the upcoming campaign.
“Of course, at some points, it’s been difficult,” he stated. “Because you love to play, and you’re not doing that.
“I keep that in mind as I work toward healing. I’ve benefited from spending a lot of time with the boys, both at the training field and during the games.
“Even though I’m not playing, I can use this time to strengthen my body and mind and to feel more comfortable among these boys. I’ve seized the opportunity wholeheartedly.
“I’ve got more opportunity to observe the group and learn how we operate. I want to make sure I blend in when I get onto the field. Considering the benefits, I believe there have been numerous.”
