During the most recent summer transfer window, Manchester City was involved in some moves.
Apart from acquiring players like Savinho and Ilkay Gundogan, City also acquired players like Joao Cancelo and Julian Alvarez.
But after their previous Premier League season, in which they became the first team to win four straight league trophies, the Blues also found time to extend Stefan Ortega’s contract.
However, some behind-the-scenes information about a different member of the team whose contract the club is hoping to extend has recently surfaced.
Man City and Erling Haaland are almost ready to sign a new deal.
A recent print edition of the Spanish tabloid Marca reportedly revealed (via City Xtra) that the Manchester United team is close to reaching an agreement on a better contract for Erling Haaland.
The article also stated that Rafaela Pimenta, Haaland’s agent, has met with City multiple times, and all signs point to the agreement of a new contract.
For City, a new contract with Haaland would be fantastic.
The striker signed a five-year contract when he first joined City in 2022, therefore his current contract, which pays him £375k a week, is scheduled to end in the summer of 2027.
The 24-year-old has scored 97 goals in 102 games across all competitions while playing for the team, taking home numerous trophies and individual honours in the process.
Indeed, Darren Bent recently remarked that if Haaland continues in the manner he has in England thus far, he has the potential to become the greatest striker in Premier League history.
Everyone at the Etihad Stadium would surely benefit greatly from seeing the Norwegian commit to the team going forward, especially as it has been rumoured that City and the player are almost ready to reach an agreement on a new deal.
