Chelsea defeated West Ham with ease, and among their many winners were Cole Palmer and Enzo Maresca.
Nicolas Jackson scored two goals and Palmer scored one to give the Blues a 3-0 victory over the Hammers.
Chelsea now sits second in the Premier League standings with ten points after winning three of their last five games and drawing one.
Although every member of the team and staff contributed, Palmer and Maresca in particular will be happy with their most recent performance.
With 39 goals since making his league debut for Chelsea in September of last year, Palmer currently holds the record for most goal contributions in the Premier League.
With 24 goals and 15 assists in 38 games, he has surpassed Erling Haaland of Manchester City, who has 38 contributions.
In addition, Maresca has triumphed in each of his first three league away games.
The last new manager to do so at the start of his reign at City was Pep Guardiola, who Maresca had previously assisted.
The Spaniard recorded victories against Swansea City, Stoke City, and Manchester United, while Maresca triumphed over Wolves, Bournemouth, and now West Ham.
It only took Chelsea four minutes to take the lead in their first victory at the London Stadium since 2021.
After latching onto the end of Jadon Sancho’s pass down the left, Jackson shot beyond Alphonse Areola’s legs and into the penalty area.
After Moises Caicedo’s through ball, the Senegalese international scored a second goal in the eighteenth minute with a one-on-one finish.
Within 68 seconds of the second half, Palmer scored past Areola after Jackson had passed him the ball. It was a game, set, and match.
Wesley Fofana controversially stopped Crysencio Summerville in the area during the first half, denying West Ham a penalty.
Summerville went down, but referee Samuel Barrott waved off the hosts’ objections. The incident was later reviewed by VAR.
“The referee’s call of no penalty for the challenge by Fofana on Summerville is checked and confirmed by VAR – deeming that this was not sustained holding,” the Premier League match centre stated in response to the decision not to award a penalty.
On a disappointing day for West Ham, Mohammed Kudus did find the back of the net, but his goal was disallowed for offside.
This season, Julen Lopetegui’s team has lost all three of its league home openers, allowing Chelsea to win all three points with ease.
