After Casemiro dubbed the Manchester United custodian a “d*******,” David de Gea admitted his “love” for the Brazilian.
Both players have been essential in what has been a standout season under Erik Ten Hag at Old Trafford. The Spaniard’s play in goal has been impressive, while Casemiro, a former Real Madrid great, has been a vital addition to the midfield.
It seems the two have a solid romantic relationship. De Gea posted a letter from his Brazilian teammate placed in the Man United locker room over the weekend on Instagram.
He displayed one of his autograph cards that appeared to have been vandalized by Casemiro and bear the Spanish writing, “I love you d******d.” De Gea replied to the comment by captioning his picture, “Love you too bro,” with a laughing and heart emoji.
The former Real Madrid player’s debut season in the Premier League has not only impressed the Spaniard, who looks to have developed a personal friendship with him. Marcus Rashford, the team’s leading scorer, has heaped praise on the 31-year-old since his £60 million transfer from Real Madrid.
He said: “He makes a huge difference for us” after the Red Devils won the Carabao Cup. His leadership skills and big-game expertise are crucial.
Speaking with some of the other forward boys, we all agreed that having him on the pitch gives us all a sense of security, which is crucial.
Despite having a strong rookie season, Casemiro’s self-control has been questioned a few times this season. Due to his two red cards against Crystal Palace and Southampton, he has been suspended for eight games.
However, he made a Saturday comeback and played the entire 90 minutes as the Red Devils defeated struggling Nottingham Forest 2-0 to make it three straight league wins. Over the upcoming week, Ten Hag’s team will take another vacation from league play in an effort to win two more trophies.
Sevilla of Spain will be United’s first opponent in the second leg of their Europa League quarterfinal match. The Red Devils let a two-goal lead at Old Trafford go, and the score is now tied.
After that match, the two teams will face off at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup semifinals against an in-form Brighton team. In nine days, United will play Tottenham in North London in their next Premier League match.
De Gea will undoubtedly want to earn another clean sheet in that contest. The Spaniard is currently in the lead for the Golden Glove after recording three straight clean sheets in the Premier League.
