Neymar’s summer transfer to Manchester United appears doubtful since ‘negotiations have stopped’ over the player’s pay.
This is according to Sport, who claim that the Brazilian’s ‘demands’ for his wage have made it seem tough for Manchester United to complete the acquisition.
With growing rumours that Neymar will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the conclusion of the season, United has been linked with a bid for him over the past several weeks.
Neymar is rumoured to be considering leaving Paris but, according to Sport’s intelligence, his wage demands are hindering his hunt for a new team.
They say that the footballer’s entourage has been in contact with Manchester United and has looked into the possibility of relocating to England, but the reality is that “the negotiations have stalled” and no progress has been achieved in recent days.
In order to lure the Brazilian to Old Trafford, United ran the figures. However, it turned out that they could only agree to his terms if they agreed to sign him to a long-term contract.
Given that he is now 31 years old and that his performances have not been stellar for a number of seasons, they are unwilling to do that, and neither are other clubs.
Since joining PSG, the athlete has only completed one season with more than thirty games, raising questions about his physical condition.
Paying him what he wants is therefore not really an option, which appears to be the reason why negotiations are currently at a standstill.
