Ederson has provided some insights regarding Pep Guardiola’s actions while coaching Manchester City.
The Brazilian has provided some insight into what it’s like to have the 52-year-old as a manager after his team, the Citizens, just won their sixth Premier League championship.
When questioned about working under Guardiola, Ederson had the following response in a statement to TNT Sports (via City Xtra).
“He lives and breathes football,” he remarked. You can see he lives it in every game, not just the ones versus Real [Madrid].
He’s a guy that lives it all; he’s really demanding. Whether you make a mistake and he yells at you, or you make a wonderful pass and he yells to cheer.
“He experiences everything. His ideas are never-ending, but we understand that this is natural for him.
“When the time is right to critique you, he does so; when the time is right to curse at you, he does so on the pitch; when the time is right to praise you, he does so. Therefore, I believe he is the type of good coach who tells you all he has to say directly.
Guardiola’s interactions with Ederson
It is safe to say that the shot-stopper is familiar with Guardiola’s coaching style and methods given that he has made 288 appearances for him, with just four other players having made more.
Given that the former manager of Barcelona and Bayern Munich has led City to numerous domestic championships and is in line to add the FA Cup and the Champions League to his collection by season’s end, it is clear how much Guardiola’s expertise and enthusiasm for the game have contributed to his current team’s success.
In light of what Ederson has said, it is evident that he enjoys working with his manager and respects the way he communicates, both of which we believe are important components of successfully guiding a team ahead.
The City manager will be able to demonstrate the value of his antics on the sidelines and at the training facility if he leads his team to two more victories in the FA Cup and Champions League finals.
