The player in question is Jadon Sancho, who has made just 12 goals in 79 games since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2021. After investing so much time and money in their chase of the winger and subsequent signing of him, Man Utd clearly expected much more from him.
According to Tuesday’s transfer rumors, Manchester United is interested in replacing Sancho this summer. Obviously, this has raised concerns about the 23-year-old’s future.
Tottenham was mentioned in connection with Sancho over the weekend. However, a new report from Football Transfers indicates that Spurs are not truly considering signing him.
Aston Villa, according to the report, are potential candidates to present Sancho with a new challenge in the Premier League.
The team of Unai Emery would like to reach an agreement with Man Utd about Sancho’s transfer worth. The article states that the current asking price is £60 million.
Sancho‘s contract with Manchester United still runs through 2026, but it is reported that the club is prepared to move him this summer. According to rumors, Erik ten Hag didn’t think the former Man City academy prodigy lived up to expectations.
The manager will not obstruct Sancho’s departure since he prefers to place his long-term trust in Alejandro Garnacho.
But given that Manchester United paid €85 million to sign him just a few years ago, it will be crucial for the team to try and avoid suffering a significant loss when selling him. Sadly, his physique might make that challenging.
Sancho and Maguire from Manchester United were linked to Aston Villa
Sancho’s valuation by Man Utd is £60 million, but Villa might be able to lower it through negotiation.
Even still, Villa would probably have to make a club-record offer to get Sancho. Emiliano Buendia, who they paid up to £38 million to acquire from Norwich City in 2021, is their most expensive hire to date.
It’s interesting to note that other reports have said Villa is also interested in Harry Maguire, another expensive player who has struggled to repay Man Utd’s investment.
The center-back will have to think about his future this summer after sliding down the pecking order, which could get worse if Manchester United successfully acquires Kim Min-jae from Napoli.
He would also be a costly target for Villa, but Emery’s club is on the rise after qualifying for the Europa League. In yet another coincidence, Maguire appears to be a target for Tottenham.
While Man Utd looks to keep progressing under the direction of Ten Hag, Sancho and Maguire may need to make some significant decisions this summer.
Both players are not as depended upon as they should be for their initial evaluations because they have combined for just 29 Premier League starts this season. Sancho, however, has time on his side if he can rediscover his brilliance at a different club, and Maguire may be able to help someone else with his experience.
