Manchester United win race for Harry Amass with deal agreed for Watford starlet
Manchester United is poised to pull off a coup in the transfer market by snatching up young Harry Amass.
Some of the top Premier League clubs have expressed interest in the 16-year-old Watford left-back, who has been receiving excellent evaluations while playing in the youth ranks at Vicarage Road.
Back in March, Standard Sport reported that United was poised to buy Amass ahead of Chelsea after beginning advanced negotiations.
Standard Sport has learned that the agreement, which was initially reported by Fabrizio Romano, is finalized and will be made public this week. The young player will then sign a four-year contract with Old Trafford.
Amass was initially named to Watford’s senior match day squad at the age of just 15, indicating that the team clearly views him as a great promise for the future.
He is yet to make his senior club football debut, but under Charlie Daniels, he has excelled for the Hornets’ Under-18s team as well as for England at the junior level, winning silverware at the UEFA Development tournament earlier this year.
Amass believes that practicing in a prestigious academy will advance his growth more swiftly than sticking with the Championship, according to a recent report from Standard Sport.
